Robotic process automation in action.

Dear Customers,

You have to be relevant to stay in business, and that means staying on top of the latest technology in your industry.

At Strategic Technology Partners of Texas, we have always believed in the power of technology. 37 years ago, when I started STPT, we partnered with Xerox partly because of their dedication to innovative technology. Xerox is a company that has made it their mission to make work processes more accessible and streamlined for companies of all sizes.

We were a small business looking to get involved with cutting-edge technology, so a Xerox partnership was the smartest option for us.

Today, Xerox is still the smartest option for us. Just consider their motto: Xerox makes “work, work.”

When Xerox invented the first copier in the twentieth century, it revolutionized the way offices functioned. The first copier produced exact copies of documents in minutes. Before the invention of the first copier, employees had to hand copy documents, which meant hours spent typing and re-typing information.

After Xerox patented xerographic technology, copying—a task that once took hours, was simply… automated.

Xerox has been using machinery to automate menial work tasks from the very beginning, so using AI technology to automate long, mind-numbing tasks—like data entry—is really just a continuation of Xerox’s dedication to making work smarter and easier.

So, let’s talk about what Xerox’s dedication to technological advancement means today; like many other tech giants, Xerox is getting in on the AI game to automate “mundane, repetitive” work tasks.

This is called Robotic Process Automation, and it is going to change the world of business.

What Is Xerox’s New Robotic Processing Automation (RPA) Technology and How Does It Work?

You may think I’m exaggerating, but I mean it: Robotic Process Automation will absolutely change how offices function.

This year, I was invited by Xerox to attend the PGA Championship at Oakhill in New York. (Congrats to Brooks Koepka on his big win!) I represented the DFW metroplex, North Texas, and Oklahoma service areas. At this event, I was given the privilege of seeing Robotic Processing Automation in action—and I think it is vital that I share what I learned with our customers.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an AI technology that uses bots, like ChatGPT, to automate and streamline business processes. Xerox’s partners, like us, will soon be able to offer RPA as a Xerox service for local businesses.

RPA’s bots are artificially intelligent, and they are programmed to speed up business production in a variety of ways. Xerox’s bots can fully or partially automate financial, customer service, marketing, administrative, and HR tasks.

We watched a presentation that showed how the RPA bots work in real time for real businesses.

Without lifting a finger, the Accounts Payable Bot processed all the information needed for invoice processing for a company that deals with many vendors and different forms of invoices. The bot connected to their back-office accounts payable system, then it input and processed data in less than a minute.

It was fast, simple, and hours of work were knocked out without a second thought. It allowed the people doing a lot of manual data entry to focus on more important job tasks.

Only one word came to mind after seeing RPA work: awesome. It was awesome.

Think of Robotic Process Automation as something like a copier printer, scanner, or fax machine. It is a technology designed to automate a long, mundane process (like copying documents by hand) into a simple, one-button process.

The Accounts Payable Bot is just one of Xerox’s RPA bot options designed to streamline business functions. Think about invoices, emails, onboarding forms, and data entry to name a few—all these things can be automated with RPA.

My Expert Opinion On RPA as the Founder and President of STPT

We care about our local customers, and that’s why I wanted to write this article. AI technology is a hot topic right now, and it is a scary one for some people.

I understand that its frightening, but a lot of what makes it so frightening is a lack of knowledge.

That’s why it is so important for us to have a transparent conversation with our customers about what we’re seeing with AI technology in the workplace.

We partner with Xerox, but we are also a small company that employs real people. We bring jobs to our business area, and we also offer state-of-the-art Xerox office equipment for other local businesses.

For months, I’ve been hearing things about ChatGPT and AI bots. I’ve heard horror stories from creatives and employees who are worried about losing their jobs, and I’ve also heard about how much money it will save small businesses.

This technology will save time and money for businesses all over the world. It will also change the way business is conducted in ways that we may not even fully understand yet.

The truth is that the business world moves at the speed of light, and if we don’t keep up, we will be left behind.

AI technology is new and ever-changing. So, you may wonder then whether it’s worth it for your company to try RPA now. Maybe you’re thinking you’ll try AI technology out later when it is more commonplace.

But—if you’re asking me whether you should you dive into the world of AI tech with Xerox’s RPA solutions now, then as a small business owner who has watched the world of tech innovate for nearly 40 years, I would say: yes, absolutely.

Working with Xerox was one of the smartest decisions we’ve made at STPT, and I’m sure that investing in Xerox’s innovative technology will be one of the smartest decisions you make for your business too.

Sincerely,

Karla Metzler,
